Make a puzzle and send it to someone.

Most puzzle apps only deal you what they generated. Winters Puzzles lets you write one yourself — your own words, clues, questions or emoji — try it, then send a link so somebody else can play exactly what you made. No account, no sign-up, and nothing uploaded anywhere.

What you can make

Six of the puzzles in the app can be written from scratch:

Number SequenceSpot the hidden pattern
Word SearchFind every hidden word
Word GuessSolve clues from a letter bank
HangmanGuess the word before the figure is drawn
Emoji RiddleRead the picture, spell the phrase
TriviaFive questions, four answers each

A Trivia round about your own family, a Word Search full of your friends’ names, an Emoji Riddle built on a private joke — these are the puzzles no generator can produce, which is rather the point.

How it works

  1. Choose what to make. Pick one of the six styles above from the Create tab.
  2. Write it. Add your answers, clues or questions and pick a difficulty. The app checks as you go that what you have written actually makes a playable puzzle.
  3. Try it yourself. Play the finished puzzle before it leaves your hands, so you can see it the way your friend will.
  4. Send the link. Share it in a message, an email, or anywhere else you would send a link. Opening it on a device with Winters Puzzles installed loads the puzzle straight into the app, with your name on it.

Where the puzzle actually lives

The whole puzzle is packed into the link itself. It is compressed and written into the link when you share it, and unpacked again when your friend opens it — so there is no copy sitting on a server waiting to be looked at, and no public page anybody could stumble across.

Packing the puzzle into the link puts a ceiling on its size, so a very long word list or a very wordy trivia round may need trimming by a word or two before it will send. The app tells you when that happens.

Questions people ask

Can I create a puzzle and share a link?

Yes. Six puzzle types can be written in the app and shared as a link that carries the whole puzzle with it.

Does my friend need an account?

No. They need Winters Puzzles installed on an iPhone or iPad. There is no account to make, on either end.

Is the puzzle I make public?

No. It is not uploaded and there is no public listing. It goes only to whoever you send the link to.

Can I keep the puzzles I have made?

Yes — they are saved in the app, so you can play them again, edit them, or send them to somebody else later.
