In one sentence

Winters Puzzles is a multi-puzzle app for iPhone and iPad with 32 number, word, logic, spatial, card and quick-play games in one place.

In a paragraph

Winters Puzzles brings 32 different puzzles into a single app for iPhone and iPad — Sudoku, Nonogram, KenKen, Kakuro, Word Search, Solitaire, Logic Grid, Minesweeper, Tessera and more. A fresh Today’s Mix waits each day, six of the puzzle types can be written by hand and sent to a friend as a link, and curated and seasonal Collections — a set of ten puzzles to work through in order — arrive in a forthcoming update. Boards are generated on device and verified before they are dealt, so a puzzle can always be reasoned out rather than guessed at.

At more length

Most puzzle apps do one thing, which means somebody who likes both Sudoku and Solitaire ends up with two apps, two sets of statistics and two places to check. Winters Puzzles is built the other way round: one app, 32 puzzles, one streak, one set of stats, and one place to look.

The catalogue spans 7 categories — Numbers, Words, Logic, Spatial, Cards, Knowledge, Arcade — from a two-minute Memory Match to a full four-suit Spider deal. Nearly every board is generated on the device and checked before it is shown: Sudoku and Nonogram boards are verified to have exactly one solution, Minesweeper fields are built so they can be cleared without ever guessing, and Gridlock’s par is the measured minimum for that board rather than an estimate. The card games are the honest exception, where a real shuffle means not every deal can be won.

Alongside the library, Today’s Mix offers a small daily set — one to six puzzles, sized and filtered however the player wants — and Collections, coming in a forthcoming update, group ten puzzles into a run, with seasonal sets that bring their own artwork and weather to the boards inside them and leave when the season does. The Create tab lets somebody write their own Trivia round, Word Search, Hangman, Word Guess, Emoji Riddle or Number Sequence and share it as a link that carries the entire puzzle inside it — nothing is uploaded, and neither person needs an account.
